STAY WITH HILL

I'm Hill. I'm a writer, which means I work from home — so your dog is never alone. No crate schedules, no long empty afternoons. They're with me on the couch while I work, out for walks when they need them, and generally living the life they have at your place, minus you.

I've been caring for dogs on and off for twenty years — the last four, professionally, in my home. Most of my business is regulars: dogs who've stayed with me a dozen times and drag their owners to my door. I keep the group small, so your dog gets actual attention rather than a spot in a pack.

How it works

1. Meet and greet. Free, no obligation. You and your dog come by; we see how everyone gets along. If your dog hates my couch, no hard feelings.
2. Book the dates. Text or email works. A deposit holds holiday dates.
3. Drop off. Bring their food, meds, and anything that smells like home. Flexible drop-off and pick-up times — I'm here, not running a front desk.
4. Updates. Photos and texts daily, or more often if you're the type to check your phone from the beach. No judgment.

The house

Dogs have run of the house — no crates unless your dog prefers one. Instead of being turned out in a yard, guests get real leashed walks through the neighborhood, several times a day, every day. Guests sleep wherever they're comfortable. Never more than a handful of dogs at a time, and I match temperaments before mixing guests — a calm house stays calm.

Good to know

• Dogs must be current on rabies, distemper, and Bordetella.
• Bring your dog's own food — switching brands mid-stay is nobody's friend.
• Medications are no problem, no extra charge.
• Puppies, seniors, and shy dogs welcome. Aggressive dogs, we'll talk first.
• Cancellations: full refund with 7 days' notice. Holiday bookings need 14 days' notice — those dates go fast and don't come back.
